GIRVIN
(Tale of Ekati – Catch the Moon)
Other progeny of Tale of Ekati that have had success are PLEASANT TALES ($212k), TALE OF S’AVALL (Grade 3 Placed), TALE OF VERVE (3rd Preakness), and VERVE’S TALE (Won G3-Comely @ 9furlongs)
On the female side, Girvin is a half to COCKED AND LOADED who won the Grade 3 – Iroqouis, ran 4th in the Ohio Derby, and 5th in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile.
Most of his sire’s progeny have succeeded from 5furlongs to 8.5furlongs. The lone exception is the filly Verve’s Tale who I mentioned up above. It’s hard to forget that Girvin had some trouble running straight late in both the Risen Star and the Louisiana Derby. He bore about a bit in the Risen Star and looked to be getting a little leg weary in the Louisiana Derby.
RUN TYPE: In my terms he is an EP-P, which means he can pressure the early pace and attack from there. It also gives him the opportunity to go to the lead in a race with no pace. He also have the ability to relax and sit four to five lengths off the lead.
PEDIGREE ANALYSIS AND GRADE: Sire never won beyond 9 furlongs. He gets no help with stamina from the female line. His sire has never had a horse place beyond 9furlongs. Female side helps with speed only. FINAL GRADE: C
